More than nine decades deep. Since hiring our first forester back in 1919, we’ve developed a variety of forest management practices that help our lands thrive.
In fact, the company adopted practices to protect sensitive habitats for endangered species long before the Endangered Species Act was made law. Our experts worked closely with customers, partners, and competitors to draft the rigorous standards for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)®, and we were the nation’s first company to make our compliance with those standards publicly available.
The list goes on, of course, but at the heart of it all is the simple conviction that protecting our forestlands is both an honor and a responsibility. We believe firmly in protecting our lands for both the stewards of today and the children of tomorrow.
It’s for these reasons and many, many more, that our lands have been meeting the highest environmental standards for nearly a century.
